In simple terms Essbase outline is hierarchical representation of the entire Business system.
It consists of Dimensions which are again categorized into two forms:
Standard Dimension
Attribute Dimension
Let's start simple journey to create the default outline
Step 1) Connect to the Administrative server, based on the privileges of user the list of Analytical servers will be displayed under Essbase Analytical Server.
Step 2) Drill down one of the Analytical server and proceed as shown in the below image.
Step 3) Type the name of the Application and make sure the name should not cross 8 characters and should not have any special characters in the below screen.
Now you have created the application but it doesn't have any databases, to create the database fallow the below process.
Step 4) Type the name for the database in the below box, the database name should not cross 8 characters.
In BSO there are no restrictions on the database name but in ASO you cannot create the database with names metadata, default, log, temp.
now default outline has been created according to the business requirements change the outline.
